Three further men charged over kidnappings, assaults in Sydney’s west and Central West

Detectives have charged three further men over their alleged roles in two aggravated kidnappings and an assault in Sydney’s west and Central West last year.

About 10pm on Monday 30 April 2018, a 23-year-old woman was speaking to a man, who was known to her, outside a home on Cummings Street, West Bathurst, when it’s alleged he and other a group of men forced her into a vehicle.

The woman was allegedly threatened in the vehicle while it drove around the area, before she was able to exit safely.

She was not physically injured.

In a separate incident, about 10.20pm on Wednesday 14 November 2018, a 27-year-old man exited a Toyota Camry in the driveway of a home on Taylors Road, Silverdale, when he was allegedly approached and assaulted by five men.

It’s further alleged he was forced into a vehicle and assaulted with a machete before being dropped on the side of Bents Basin Road, Wallacia.

About an hour later, police located him with a laceration to his leg. He was taken to Nepean Hospital for surgery.

The incidents were investigated by local police before the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad took carriage of the incidents under Strike Force Maliwa.

Three men – aged 21 and two aged 22 – have previously been charged over their alleged roles and remain before the courts.

As part of further inquiries inquiries, detectives arrested a 21-year-old man at a facility in Silverwater about 10am on Wednesday (24 July 2019).

He was charged with take/detain person in company with intent to obtain advantage.

Police will allege in court that the man was involved in the West Bathurst kidnapping.

The man was remanded in custody and appeared at Parramatta Local Court yesterday (Thursday 25 July 2019), where he was refused bail to re-appear at the same court on Thursday 19 September 2019.

Following further investigations, strike force officers, with assistance from Strike Force Raptor, arrested a 20-year-old man at a home on John Street, St Marys, just after 7am yesterday.

About 8am, a 21-year-old man was arrested at a home on Assisi Close, Cranebrook.

They were both taken to Penrith Police Station.

A short time later, police executed a search warrant at the St Marys home, where they seized an electronic stun device.

The 20-year-old man was charged with take/detain person in company with intent to obtain advantage, kidnap in company with serious indictable occasion actual bodily harm, and possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.

The 21-year-old man was charged with take/detain person in company with intent to obtain advantage, and kidnap in company with serious indictable occasion actual bodily harm.

Police will allege in court that both men were involved in the kidnappings at West Bathurst and Silverdale.

They were refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Friday 26 July 2019).

Investigations under Strike Force Maliwa continue.
