Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged four men following a hit-run collision and extended follow in Melbourne’s south-east yesterday.
Emergency services were called to a three-vehicle collision on Beach Road in Black Rock about 8.50am.
It is alleged a Toyota 86, which was stolen in St Kilda yesterday, fled the scene before being dumped on Bluff Road a short time later.
Police allegedly located and seized an imitation firearm and stolen clothes inside the vehicle.
A short time later, police spotted a stolen Subaru WRX nearby.
Officers deployed stopsticks and the vehicle was followed before it was dumped at a shopping centre on Nepean Highway in Cheltenham.
Two men were arrested nearby.
A third man is alleged to have stolen clothing from a shop inside in an attempt to avoid apprehension before he too was arrested.
It is alleged two of the men were in possession of on-board diagnostic (OBD) devices used to steal cars.
A 28-year-old Werribee man was charged with dangerous driving whilst pursed by police, theft of motor vehicle, drink driving, theft and bail offences.
A 31-year-old Toorak man was charged with theft of motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, drink driving, prohibited person possess imitation firearm and bail offences.
A 21-year-old Tecoma man was charged with theft of motor vehicle and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.
All three are expected to appear before court at a later date.
