Three more Ironside arrests, South Australia

Three men have been charged with drug offences following further investigations into Operation Ironside.

On Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 February investigators attached to Taskforce Ironside arrested a 45-year-old Urrbrae man, a 38-year-old Evanston Park man and a 53-year-old Milang man and charged them with nine counts of trafficking a large commercial quantity of a controlled drug – more than 800 kilograms of dried cannabis and associated money laundering offences.

Police will allege these offences occurred between September 2019 and July 2020. In addition Police will allege that messaging that provides evidence supporting the cannabis trafficking enterprise was located on the ANOM application.

The men have been refused bail and will appear at the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 8 February.

Detective Chief Inspector Darren Fielke, from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch, said “These arrests are another great example of the continuing efforts of Taskforce Ironside investigators to identify and act on serious offending committed by criminal groups. Members of such groups who used the AN0M app to facilitate their insidious criminal behaviour should expect to be arrested and charged by Taskforce investigators.”
