Three teenagers charged following cross border pursuit – Albury

Three teenagers have been charged following an alleged pursuit through southern NSW and Victoria this morning.

About 12.30am today (Thursday 1 October 2026), officers from Murray River Police District allegedly observed a white sedan driving dangerously on Mate Street, Albury.

It will be alleged the sedan was seen driving at a high speed on Mate Street and Fallon Street, where the occupants allegedly threw an object a fully marked police vehicle.

Police attempted to stop the sedan, and road spikes were successfully deployed on Olive Street, Albury, however, the vehicle continued through the Albury CBD.

A short time later, the vehicle crossed the border into Victoria, where road spikes were again successfully deployed by Victoria Police.

The sedan continued on the Hume Highway and re-entered NSW, where officers from Murray River Police District attempted to stop the sedan at the intersection of the Hume Freeway and East Street, South Albury.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued into the Albury CBD, where the occupants allegedly threw objects at pursuing police.

The sedan stopped at the intersection of David Street and Swift Street, Albury, where police arrested three teenage girls – one aged 14 and two aged 15.

All three were taken to Albury Police Station, where a 15-year-old, who police will allege was the driver of the sedan, was charged with police pursuit not stop drive dangerously, never licenced person drive vehicle on road and drive conveyance taken without consent of owner.

She was refused bail to appear before a children’s court today (Thursday 1 October 2026) where she was formally refused bail to before a children’s court on Monday 12 October 2026.

The other 15-year-old girl was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and intentionally throw object at vehicle/vessel risk safety.

She was refused bail to appear before a children’s court today (Thursday 1 October 2026) where she was granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Monday 9 November 2026.

The 14-year-old girl was charged with be carried in conveyance take without consent of owner, intentionally throw object at vehicle/vessel risk safety and larceny value less than or equal to $2000.

She was refused bail to appear before a children’s court today (Thursday 1 October 2026) where she was granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Monday 12 October 2026.

Police will allege in court the sedan was stolen from a business on Spencer Street, Albury, on Tuesday 29 September 2026.
