Toowoomba LDMG moves to stand-up in response to Ravensbourne, Cressbrook bushfire (2)

The Toowoomba Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) has moved to stand-up as QFES issues further warnings for a bushfire burning in the vicinity of Ravensbourne and Cressbrook Dam Estate.

Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald said the LDMG was at stand up and residents were being asked to monitor further warnings that may be issued by QFES in response to this bushfire.

“The Redbank Creek and Ravensbourne fires in the Deongwar State Forest, while currently in the Somerset Regional Council area, is posting a potential risk to the Cressbrook Dam Estate lands and Ravensbourne.

“Council has heavy machinery, operators and a supervisor on site assisting with constructing fire breaks. Two fire units with four staff have been released to support the rural fire crews working this fire also.

“A request for support to close Esk Hampton Rd was answered last night as well. The road remains closed.

“Liaison between TRC, Somerset Regional Council and Southeast Region Rural Fire Service continues as the situation evolves,” Mayor McDonald said.
