The championships are expected to see more than 250 players participate, plus staff and umpires.

“The Toyota Australian Country Cricket Championships celebrate the best of country cricket, providing Australia’s best regional players with the opportunity to represent their State and test their skills at a high level of competition.

“Toowoomba is a good example of a thriving regional cricket community and we look forward to working with the Toowoomba Regional Council, Toowoomba Cricket and Queensland Cricket to ensure this event is a great success and injects further energy and momentum into the game in this region.”

Toyota Australia Chief Marketing Officer, Wayne Gabriel said:

“We recognise the importance of the Toyota Australian Country Cricket Championships to bring together the local community and provide exciting opportunities for Australia’s best regional players.

“A key focus of Toyota’s sponsorship is to support communities and clubs that are the breeding ground for future champions. There isn’t another competition like this in Australia and we’re excited to see over 250 players get onto the field next year”.

Toowoomba Region Mayor, Paul Antonio said:

“Toowoomba Regional Council is delighted that the region has been chosen to host the annual cricket titles featuring men’s and women’s teams.

“We are fortunate to have top-class playing fields and plenty of accommodation options to cater for several hundred players, coaching staff and supporters who will travel from all parts of the country.

“Sports fans will be treated to skilful T20 and 50-over cricket during the early part of the January holidays.

“Toowoomba and Southern Queensland have a rich tradition of nurturing cricketers who have played for Queensland Country and also the Australian Country side, including Cam Brimblecombe of Western Districts of Western Districts who earned Australian country selection following a dominant performance with the ball for Queensland during the 2019 Australian Country Cricket Championships.”
