Voting has now closed for the final four Town Entrance Sign Motifs, which saw almost 1,000 votes cast in this latest consultation process.
Mayor Libro Mustica said the community support for this process was overwhelming.
“I would like to thank all residents who participated in the Town Entrance Sign Motif vote, with the motifs reflecting the nature and makeup of each town,” Cr Mustica said.
“This new signage builds on the energy and impact of our revitalised logo and reinforces our vision of the shire working together to be a vibrant and prosperous rural community.
“The four towns of Bundalong Tungamah, Waaia and Wilby had votes too close to call in the first round of voting and required a further vote where the motifs were shortlisted.
“This final voting round produced clear winners which are as follows: Bundalong – Water Skier, Tungamah – Creek, Waaia – Bomber Plane, and Wilby – Race Car.
“We are also pleased to say, after consultation with the Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation, the motif for Katamatite as voted by the community in the first round of voting, will be the Turtle and Goanna.
“These icons are now being installed on the remaining town entrance signs.”
