Tractor hauling unregistered semi trailer impounded in Serpentine

Heavy Vehicle Unit police have impounded a tractor after it was intercepted In Serpentine.

Officers intercepted the vehicle on the Loddon Valley Highway about 5.15pm on Sunday 29 November.

The driver, a 34-year-old Kerang man was found to have a disqualified licence.

The semi-trailer had no breaks connected to it and was also unregistered.

The tractor was impounded at a cost of $1200.

The driver is expected to be charged on summons with several driving offences.

This impound forms part of Operation Compass, a road policing operation aimed at keeping the community safe on Victorian roads.

Police continue to use an intelligence-based approach to target locations and major arterials law-breaking drivers are expected to be, as people from metro Melbourne head to regional Victoria. This includes behaviour such as speeding, drink and drug driving, people not wearing seatbelts, mobile phone use and fatigue.
