Traffic And Safety Improvements Coming To Beveridge

Mitchell Shire Council will deliver traffic and road safety improvements in Beveridge over the coming weeks to help address community concerns and improve traffic flow.

Traffic calming improvements on Whiteside Street in Beveridge are planned in response to community concerns about vehicle speeds and the impact of construction traffic in the area.

Council has received feedback from residents about safety along the corridor and has identified a need for measures to encourage lower vehicle speeds and improve safety for all road users.

The project includes new line marking and the installation of four speed cushions at key locations along Whiteside Street near Orana Boulevard, Echidna Drive, Crimson Drive and Hairstreak Drive.

Line marking works will be undertaken at night, while the speed cushions will be installed during the day outside peak traffic periods.

A new keep clear zone will also be installed at the intersection of Arrowsmith Street and the Old Hume Highway in Beveridge to improve traffic flow and address congestion issues experienced during busy periods.

Council has observed vehicles queuing through the intersection at peak times, making it difficult for drivers to turn into Arrowsmith Street and affecting the safe and efficient movement of traffic.

The keep clear zone will help maintain access through the intersection and improve traffic flow for vehicles travelling in the area.

Works are expected to take place from Monday 22 June and are expected to be completed by Wednesday 15 July.

Minor traffic management will be in place while works are completed, with short delays expected. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time when travelling through the area.
