Traffic control in place as Gloucester water upgrade continues

MidCoast Council

Traffic control along a 1.3 kilometre stretch of Church Street is expected to be in place until Christmas as work on the Gloucester water upgrade continues.

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane under traffic control from the corner of Philip Street to the corner of Cemetery Road to allow MidCoast Council’s contractor to install a new water main.

The changed conditions will be in place from 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Council’s Director of Infrastructure and Engineering Services, Rob Scott, said work on the town’s water upgrade was progressing on several fronts, with construction of two new reservoirs at Cemetery Road well underway.

“Overall, the project is progressing well and that’s reflected in the amount of work that’s happening around Gloucester at the moment,” said Mr Scott.

“Obviously that comes with a certain level of inconvenience, and we apologise for the delays this latest disruption may cause, but we’re excited about the improvements the upgrade is ultimately going to deliver to Gloucester’s water network.”
