Trans-Tasman Innovation and Growth Award winners announced

The Trans-Tasman Innovation and Growth Awards (TTIGA) celebrate innovation, growth and impact of small businesses in Australia and New Zealand. Our department is a premium sponsor of the awards.

This year, the awards focus on how Australia and New Zealand can emerge stronger together from global disruptions. The awards are the ‘Bledisloe Cup of innovation’.

Eligible businesses must:

  • have been established and have a presence in New Zealand and/or Australia
  • have a market cap under A$100,000
  • receive some form of funding
  • be able to share their innovation and growth story.

The top 4 award recipients receive:

  • a cash prize of A$25,000 each
  • a corporate support package as an incentive to communicate elements that have made their businesses globally successful.

A high-profile judging panel from Australia and New Zealand reviewed the award applications.

TTIGA 2022 winners

The Hon Anthony Albanese MP (Prime Minister of Australia) and Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern (Prime Minister of New Zealand) announced the winners in a gala dinner on 7 July 2022. The winners are:

  • Seer Data and Analytics – an Australian tech start-up that works with communities and policy makers to help people use data and machine learning for social good.
  • Inhibit Coatings – a New Zealand-based company producing leading-edge antimicrobial coatings.
  • Pleasant State – an Australian company offering sustainable and eco-friendly household cleaning goods and products.
  • oVRcome – a New Zealand-based technology and digital services company that uses a virtual reality (VR) platform to provide cognitive behavioural and exposure therapy for phobias and anxieties. Therapy is delivered via headset or mobile device in controlled VR environments.

Why we support these awards

The TTIGA and our sponsorship of these awards supports the ambition of the Australia New Zealand Science, Research and Innovation Cooperation Agreement. Our department manages the agreement to support the goals of the Single Economic Market agenda of both countries and the development of a Trans-Tasman innovation ecosystem.
