TRC seeking nominees for Regional Active and Public Transport Advisory Committee

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is calling on residents with a passion for contributing to a more active and connected region to nominate for Council’s Regional Active and Public Transport Advisory Committee (RAPTAC).

TRC Infrastructure Services Committee portfolio leader Cr Melissa Taylor said Council was seeking nominations to fill eight voluntary community positions on the committee. Nominations close on Friday, August 7.

“Council is keen to draw on the ideas and expertise of residents who will join four Councillors to examine how we can encourage more residents to incorporate walking and/or cycling into their daily routines or for leisure pursuits to improve their health and well-being,” Cr Taylor said.

“The committee also contributes ideas around public transport, which informs Council’s discussions with relevant public transport operators and interested user groups.”

Cr Taylor said RAPTAC, which was established in 2013, had offered valuable input which contributed to Council initiatives such as direct involvement in TransLink’s new bus services (2017), the signing of the International Walking Charter (2018) and the Transport and Active Living Forum (2019).
