Families, friends and community members came together at Depena Reserve in Dolls Point on Saturday 5 September for Bayside Council’s annual Trees for Dad planting day.
The fully booked event offered a meaningful opportunity for residents to recognise their dad, or a special father-figure in their life, by planting a native tree that will grow with the Bayside community.
Across three planting sessions, families and friends came together to plant native trees in honour of the fathers and father figures in their lives. With guidance from Council staff, participants helped create a living legacy that will grow into a greener, cooler reserve and support local wildlife for years to come.
Trees for Dad is part of Council’s ongoing initiative to care for local green spaces, strengthen biodiversity and create a greener, more resilient Bayside for current and future generations.
Bayside Mayor Edward McDougall said:
“Trees for Dad is a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time together and recognise the fathers and father figures who mean so much to them,” Mayor McDougall said.
“Every tree planted is a lasting contribution to our local environment, helping to create cooler, greener neighbourhoods and habitat for native wildlife now, and for the future.”
