Trio arrested after evade in stolen car

Police have arrested three male teenagers following an alleged high speed evade in Meadow Heights last night.

Officers were patrolling on Barry Road when they observed a grey Mitsubishi SUV allegedly travelling with no headlights on at 10.30pm.

Police established it was bearing stolen plates and attempted to intercept the car on Lightwood Crescent, but the driver failed to stop and allegedly took off at high speeds.

The police Air Wing quickly responded and followed the car before observing it pull over on Golden Ash Court.

Three males allegedly exited from the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

With the assistance of the Dog Squad, officers on the ground arrested the trio who were allegedly hiding at a nearby property.

Upon investigation police established the car was stolen from Essendon North on 20 November.

A 15-year-old Airport West male has since been charged with theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods, commit indictable offence whilst on bail and unlicensed driving.

He was remanded to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

A 15-year-old male from Meadow Heights has been charged with theft of motor vehicle and handle stolen goods.

He was bailed to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods and possess drug of dependence.

The Pascoe Vale South man was bailed to appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 26 August 2021.
