Trio Arrested In Stolen Car At Cowell

Police have arrested two men and a woman following a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle yesterday.

Just after 6.30pm on Friday 21 August, police received reports that a Port Lincoln home had been broken into and a Mazda utility and laptop stolen by three offenders.

Just after 7pm, patrols utilised live tracking from the stolen laptop to locate the stolen Mazda in the Arno Bay area. Police attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the driver refused and drove off at speed.

The Mazda was pursued onto the Port Lincoln Highway and was last seen travelling in a northerly direction.

Patrols tracked the vehicle onto the Birdseye Highway and spiked the vehicles tyres, the driver continued and came to a stop at the Cowell boat ramp.

Three occupants were arrested. No injuries were sustained.

It will be alleged the occupants endangered the lives of police officers and other road users by throwing an item from the vehicle into the path of oncoming police vehicles, requiring officers to take evasive action.
