Detectives investigating the alleged stabbing of two men at Woonona at the weekend have arrested and charged three people.
About 10.45pm on Saturday (31 December 2022), emergency services were called to Adams Parade, Woonona, following reports of an assault.
Officers attached to Wollongong Police District attended and located two 43-year-old men with stab wounds; one with an abdominal injury, and another with injuries to his arm.
Both were taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.
Police were told the men were allegedly attacked during a New Year’s Eve party at their home.
Following inquiries, police attended homes on Woods Avenue, Woonona, and Crana Place, Mangerton, and arrested two men aged 31 and 40, about midday yesterday (Wednesday 4 January 2023).
Both were taken to Wollongong Police Station where the younger man was charged with affray, cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent – serious indictable offence, and three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s).
The older man was charged with one count of affray and one count of robbery in company – serious indictable offence.
Both appeared in Wollongong Local Court today (Thursday 5 January 2023) where they were formally refused bail to reappear in the same court on Monday 9 January 2023.
Following further inquiries, police located and arrested a 35-year-old man in the Wollongong CBD about 12.20pm today (Thursday 5 January 2023).
He was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with affray, and three counts of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm – serious indictable offence.
The man was refused bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court tomorrow (Friday 6 January 2023).
