Trio charged with assault after Monash Freeway road rage incident

Monash Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged three men after a woman was allegedly assaulted at in Wheelers Hill last month.

The incident started on the Monash Freeway when a woman in her 40s with her two children aged under 10, was driving her car on the out-bound Ferntree Gully exit ramp off the Monash Freeway when a car with three young men allegedly pulled up alongside of her on Wednesday 19 May at 6.05pm.

The men allegedly started abusing the woman and began throwing bottles and other items at her car before following her to an address in Patronella Avenue where they assaulted her in front of the children.

The woman sustained a serious leg injury during the assault and was conveyed to hospital

Detectives arrested three men, a 19-year-old from Wheelers Hill and two 21-year-olds from Mount Waverley and Croydon.

The trio was charged with recklessly cause serious injury and affray and were bailed to appear at Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on 13 October 2021.
