The Grafton Transfer Station’s reuse shop ‘Reviva Grafton’ was officially opened by Clarence Valley Mayor, Ray Smith and Resource Recovery Australia Deputy General Manager, Ally Glendenning, at an event on Wednesday, 12 August, celebrating the facility’s successful launch following its opening in July 2026.
The Reviva Grafton Reuse Shop creates an affordable and accessible place for residents to find quality pre-loved items, unique treasures and practical household goods.
“This opening marks an important milestone for our community with our first Reuse Shop,” Clarence Valley Mayor Ray Smith said.
“This facility reflects Council’s commitment to finding practical and innovative ways to reduce waste and recover valuable resources.
“In a time when many families are looking for ways to stretch their budgets, this facility provides an opportunity to purchase useful items at a low cost while also finding practical and innovative ways to reduce waste and recover valuable resources.”
Revenue generated through the shop will be reinvested into resource recovery initiatives and improvements to waste services, creating ongoing benefits for our community and the environment.
Resource Recovery Australia’s Deputy General Manager Ally Glendenning said the success of Reviva Grafton showed the community’s strong support for reuse.
“It’s fantastic to be working alongside Clarence Valley Council to reduce landfill, create local jobs and give quality items a second chance.”
Mayor Smith said the partnership reflected a shared commitment to both environmental and community outcomes.
“We’re proud to deliver this project in partnership with Resource Recovery Australia. Their mission of creating jobs that care for people while also caring for the planet aligns closely with Council’s own values.”
By working together, we’re reducing waste, extending the life of valuable resources, supporting local jobs, and building a more sustainable future for the Clarence Valley.
Plans are also in the works to open the next reuse shop in Maclean, which Council hopes to open sometime next year.
