Tweed ready to commemorate Anzac Day 2022

Tweed Shire Council

After several years of disruptions to Anzac Day services as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tweed is preparing to commemorate the day with services across the Shire on Monday 25 April.

All Anzac Day commemorations can proceed as per normal this year and there is no requirement for QR code check-in.

RSL NSW and sub-branches are working to ensure commemorations take place in accordance with social distancing, health, and safety requirements.

The wearing of masks is only encouraged for indoor settings where it is not possible to maintain a safe distance from others.

Council has undertaken annual cleaning and maintenance of all cenotaphs in the weeks leading up to Anzac Day.

This includes pressure cleaning, painting and repair work as required at Tweed Heads (Jack Evans Boat Harbour), Murwillumbah, Kingscliff (Rowan Robinson Park and Murphys Road), Pottsville, Burringbar, Uki and Tyalgum.

Cleaning and maintenance is also undertaken prior to Memorial Day each November.

Fortunately, no cenotaphs in the Tweed were damaged in the recent floods.

On Monday, Anzac Day services will be held at the following locations across the Tweed:

In Tweed Heads, the border marker at Boundary Street will be illuminated with Anzac Day images from Friday 22 April to Monday 25 April.
