Two boats towed to shore, South Australia

Police were involved in two sea rescues overnight.

About 9.45pm on Thursday 3 January, three adults advised they were three kilometres out from North Haven boat ramp when their motor blew up.

Water Operations Police ascertained their position and towed the vessel back to its mooring.

About 10.45pm, police received information that a boat had hit a reef at Aldinga Beach and had set off a flare. Another member of the public came across the boat and towed it in to shore where it was met by Aldinga Police.

The boat operator, a 51-year-old man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.071 and was issued with an expiation notice.

There were no injuries reported in either incident.
