Two charged with firearm offences near Wagga Wagga

Two men will face court charged with firearm offences in the state’s Riverina.

About 12:50pm yesterday (Wednesday 4 March 2026), officers attached to the Southern Region Enforcement Squad executed a search warrant at a home in Tatton, Wagga Wagga.

Police allegedly located and seized 12 gel blasters including replica semi-automatic rifles and pistols, and prohibited weapons including a butterfly knife, flick knives and a firearm silencer.

Also seized were mature cannabis plants and an amount of cannabis.

An unregistered rifle was also seized and the occupants firearms licenses were suspended.

Two men – aged 25 and 57 were arrested at the scene.

They were taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where the older man was charged with

  • Possess or use prohibited weapon without permit (three counts),
  • Cultivate prohibited plant more than small & less than indictable quantity,
  • Possess prohibited drug,
  • Possess unauthorised firearm,
  • Not keep firearm safely – not pistol / prohibited firearm
  • Possess unregistered firearm – pistol,
  • Not keep firearm safely – pistol

The younger man was charged with

  • Possess more than 3 unregistered firearms, 1 is prohibited
  • Possess ammunition without holding license / permit / authority
  • Not keep firearm safely – prohibited firearm
  • Not keep firearm safely – pistol

Both were refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 5 today, (Thursday 5 March 2026).
