Two elderly men fight off intruder during aggravated break and enter at Grafton, NSW

Detectives are appealing for public assistance after two elderly men fought off an intruder during an aggravated break and enter in Grafton yesterday.

About 4.20am on Tuesday (1 February 2022), two elderly men – aged 84 and 87 – were asleep inside a home on Hoof Street, Grafton, when the younger man was woken by a flashlight shining through the window.

An unknown man has attempted to gain entry to the room, before the younger man threw a pillow at him and a struggle ensued.

The older man heard the commotion and came to assist, before the man fled back out the window.

The older man sustained a laceration to his right arm during the struggle. He did not require hospital treatment. The younger man was uninjured.

During the struggle, it is believed a second person has entered the home; however no property was stolen.

Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District were notified and established a crime scene.

As investigations continue, detectives are urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from the area, to contact Grafton Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
