On Wednesday evening the 7 June 2023, Glenorchy Police arrested a 14 year old male youth and a 16 year old male youth in connection to two related incidents, one of which was an Attempted Armed Robbery at a food outlet in Albert Road and an Armed Robbery from a Bottleshop in Albert Road. These businesses are in close proximity each other and both robberies occurred within minutes of each other. One of the youths was armed with a knife and stole a quantity of cash from the Bottleshop. Whilst understandably shaken, no person was injured during the incidents.
Uniform Police from Glenorchy, Hobart and Traffic saturated the immediate area and a short foot chase ensured prior to the two youths being arrested without incident.
An amount of cash was recovered after officers searched the area.
The male youths have been detained to appear in the Hobart Court of Petty Sessions (Youth Justice Division) on 8th of June 2023.
