Two men have been arrested and charged after police seized a significant amount of methylamphetamine (ice), and prescription drugs.
Several packages from interstate were intercepted by police, and contained approximately 1 kilogram of the highly addictive drug ice, as well as a significant quantity of prescription pill bottles.
As part of the investigation into the packages, police searched a house yesterday and two men were arrested.
During the search, police also found a large quantity of power tools believed to have been stolen during a series of recent burglaries across Launceston.
A 31-year-old man and a 37-year-old man, both from Kings Meadows, were charged with Trafficking in Controlled Substance (Major Offence).
Detective Acting Inspector Andrew Hanson said Tasmania Police would continue to target anyone involved in the manufacture or distribution of illicit substances.
“The drugs seized by police yesterday are highly addictive, and had the potential to cause significant harm to nearly 15,000 people in our community through individual street deals,” he said.
The 31-year-old man was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
The 37-year-old man was detained to appear in court today.
