Two men charged as part of drug supply investigation at Nowra, NSW

Drug and Firearms Squad detectives have charged two men and seized cannabis, cocaine and over $42,000 cash, following an investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs.

In April this year, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Drug and Firearms Squad established Strike Force Rawlinson to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs on the state’s South Coast.

Following extensive investigations, strike force detectives executed three search warrants in Nowra – two at homes and one at a business – from 8am yesterday (Tuesday 25 August 2020).

Officers were assisted throughout the operation by South Coast Police District and specialist investigators from the Criminal Group Squad’s Strike Force Raptor and the Dog Unit.

During the searches, police seized $42,000 cash, cannabis, cocaine, prescription medication and other items relevant to the investigation.

All items seized will be subject to further examination.

Two men – aged 47 and 41 – were arrested during the operation and taken to Nowra Police Station.

The older man was charged with 11 offences including; five counts of supply prohibited plant, two counts of supply cannabis, three counts of supply prohibited drug and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

He was refused bail and appeared before Nowra Local Court yesterday, where he was formally refused bail to reappear before the same court today (Wednesday 26 August 2020).

The younger man was charged with 13 offences including; four counts of supply prohibited plant, seven counts of supply cannabis, supply prohibited drug and knowingly direct activities of criminal group.

He was refused bail to appear before Nowra Local Court today.

Investigations by the Drug and Firearms Squad are continuing.
