Two men have been charged with firearm-related offences during an investigation by the Raptor Squad.

In June 2022, officers attached to State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad established Strike Force Shaula to investigate the activities of a large-scale fraud syndicate with suspected links the supply and manufacture of prohibited drugs.

During the course of the investigation, five people have been charged and remain before the courts.

As part of further inquiries, about 6pm yesterday (Friday 21 April 2023), strike force detectives executed a search warrant on Bigge Street, Liverpool.

During a search of the unit, detectives located and seized a revolver, a replica glock 22, a taser, nun chucks, prohibited drugs and items consistent with the manufacture of prohibited drugs.

A crime scene was established and examined by the Drug and Firearms Squad’s Chemical Operations Unit.

Two men – aged 34 and 62 – were arrested at the scene with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit.

Police then attended a home on Edwin Street, Regents Park, where they located and seized a machine gun.

The men were taken to Liverpool Police Station, where the younger man was charged with an outstanding warrant for possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit and possessing a prohibited drug.

The older man was charged with possessing an unauthorised firearm.

Both were refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 22 April 2023).

Investigations under Strike Force Shaula continue.
