Two men in custody after St Albans death

Homicide Squad detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in St Albans overnight.

Emergency services were called to reports an injured man had been found on an Emily Street nature strip about 11.45pm on Wednesday, 6 July.

Attending police provided first aid to the man before ambulance paramedics arrived.

The 49-year-old St Albans man died at the scene.

A 33-year-old St Albans man and 26-year-old Sydenham man have subsequently been taken into custody and are assisting investigators with their enquiries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the death are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing but police believe parties involved were known to each other.

Detectives are investigating reports an argument was heard in the vicinity of where the man was found.

It’s believed three to four men were seen leaving the area towards Margrave Street.
