Two men stabbed; third man arrested, NSW

A man has been arrested as investigations continue into a stabbing in Sydney’s south west overnight, which saw two men hospitalised.

Just after midnight (Saturday 22 August 2020), emergency services were called to Canley Vale Road near Derby Street, Canley Heights, after reports of an assault.

Police have been told two groups of men were involved in a physical altercation, during which two men were stabbed. The group fled the scene prior to police arrival.

A 19-year-old man was treated at the scene for multiple stab wounds, before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The second man, aged 18, suffered bruising and a laceration and was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic police.

A search of the surrounding area was executed, with assistance from the Public Order and Riot Squad and the Dog Unit.

Detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and following inquiries, arrested a 23-year-old man at a home on Ferngrove Road, Canley Heights, about 1.30am.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station and a BMW sedan was seized from the home for forensic examination.
