Motorists are being reminded to download the NSW Government’s popular FuelCheck app and find the cheapest fuel at the bowser, with new figures revealing there have been two million downloads.
Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government Victor Dominello said using the technology regularly could save motorists in excess of $800 a year.
“With the long weekend just around the corner, now is the perfect time to download FuelCheck and save,” Mr Dominello said.
“It’s free, easy to use and gives you real-time petrol price information where ever you are across the State.
“My message to motorists is simple – download FuelCheck and reap the rewards. It’s one of over 70 ways the NSW government has to save you money towards a brighter future and more than 93 per cent of motorists have given it the thumbs up.”
Minister for Fair Trading Eleni Petinos said the technology provides consumers with reliable information on where to get the best deals at the bowser and boost their budget.
“FuelCheck provides consumers with the most comprehensive and reliable information on how to access lower petrol prices,” Ms Petinos said.
“If motorists notice the price at the pump does not match what is shown on the app they can make a complaint directly to NSW Fair Trading.”
There is often a more than 25-cent gap in prices between service stations in the same suburb, which means if you fill up a 65-litre vehicle, you could save more than $16 by filling up at the cheaper station.
The app includes a Favourite Stations function, allowing users to save their favourite petrol stations. There is also a Trends page, showing the cheapest day of the week to fill up and the day’s price range.
