Two public place shootings and pursuit; two arrested – Cumberland

Two people have been arrested following two public place shootings and a pursuit in Sydney’s south west this morning.

Just before 7.45am today (Saturday 18 April 2026), police were called to a home on Fairmont Street, Merrylands, after reports of shots fired.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Police were called to a second home on Woodstock Street, Guildford just after 8.15am, after reports of shots fired.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

There have been nil reports of any injuries.

Shortly after, responding police observed a black SUV travelling on Woodville Road, Merrylands.

The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated, travelling through local streets before being terminated.

The vehicle was found abandoned at Smithfield and following a search of the area, two people were arrested. A firearm was also located and seized.

A stolen white SUV has also been located at Constitution Hill.
