Police have charged two teenagers over an alleged assault and malicious damage in Sydney’s CBD last week.
Just after 11.50pm on Tuesday 4 August 2026, emergency services were called to a restaurant on Dixon Street, Haymarket, following reports of an assault.
Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command were told a group of unknown people entered the restaurant, before two staff members – a 57-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man – were allegedly assaulted.
The group also allegedly caused damage to the restaurant.
A woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene for minor injuries.
A crime scene was established, and police commenced an investigation into the incident.
A short time later, police arrested six teenagers – three girls aged 15, 14, 13, and three boys aged 13, 14, 16 – on Goulburn Street, Surry Hills.
They were all taken to Surry Hills Police Station where the 15-year-old girl was charged with two counts of common assault, assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (personal), two counts of destroy or damage property less than or equal to $2000, and custody of knife in public place.
A 14-year-old girl was charged with destroy or damage property and affray.
They were both granted conditional bail to appear at a Children’s Court on Tuesday 22 September 2026.
The four other teenagers were dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
