Two teenage boys have been charged following an investigation into a series of alleged motorcycle thefts in Sydney’s inner city earlier this month.
Officers from Surry Hill Police Area Command Proactive Crime Team commenced an investigation after receiving reports of five motorcycles allegedly being stolen from different locations in Surry Hills between Monday 3 August 2026 and Friday 8 August 2026.
Following extensive inquiries, about 8am today (Thursday 27 August 2026), investigators, with the assistance of officers from Ryde Police Area Command, attended an address in Hunter’s Hill and arrested a 17-year-old boy.
He was taken to Gladesville Police Station where he was charged with five counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.
About 11am the same day, officers attached to Police Transport Command arrested a 14-year-old boy at Chatswood Railway Station.
He was taken to Chatswood Police Station where he was charged with four counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.
Both teens were refused bail to appear at a children’s court today.
