Two teens charged over alleged break and enter, pursuit – Port Macquarie

Two teenagers will face court following an alleged break and enter and pursuit in the state’s north yesterday.

About 1.30am (Friday 17 July 2026), officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District were called to a property on Mareeba Street, Port Macquarie, following reports of a stolen car.

Police attended and were told an unknown person entered the property before taking a wallet and keys to a silver Mazda station wagon.

The station wagon was then driven from the scene.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the incident commenced.

Shortly before 10pm the same day (Friday 17 July 2026), officers were called to a petrol station on High Street, Wauchope, following reports a driver had allegedly failed to pay for fuel.

While travelling to the scene, police saw the vehicle heading eastbound on Oxley Highway, King Creek; when the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

A short time later, the station wagon collided with a vehicle stopped at a traffic light, before mounting the curb and hitting a traffic sign.

The station wagon then hit a police vehicle before the alleged occupants left the scene on foot.

Following a pursuit on foot – with the assistance from the Dog Unit – two 16-year-old boys were arrested and taken to Port Macquarie Police Station.

When searched, police located and seized car keys and a wallet allegedly in the possession of one of the boys.

One boy has been charged with aggravated break and enter with intent – knowing person there, police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, and take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.

He was refused bail and appeared before a children’s court today (Saturday 18 July 2026) where he was formally refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Monday (20 July 2026).

The second boy has been charged with dishonestly obtain property by deception, and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Monday 7 September 2026.
