Police have put two people before the Court in relation to an incident in Waitematā North this week.
Around 3.35pm on Thursday 20 April, Police responded to reports of a robbery at the Hibiscus Coast Bus Station.
It is alleged the two males have approached two male victims and presented a weapon as a threat to handover their personal belongings.
Police arrived to the scene quickly and with the assistance of our Joint Traffic Operation Centre and CCTV in the area located both of the alleged offenders a short distance away before taking them into custody.
Some of the victim’s personal belongings, including both pairs of the victim’s shoes, were located nearby and returned.
Police are working to recover some other items to reunite them with the victims.
Waitematā North Area Prevention Manager Senior Sergeant Roger Small says he hopes this quick apprehension brings some reassurance to the community.
“Police are aware of concerns in our area regarding this incident and we are pleased to advise of these arrests.
“We understand these types of incidents are incredibly distressing and Police have no tolerance for this type of behaviour.”
Two males, aged 14 and 16, are due to appear in the North Shore Youth Court on Wednesday 26 April.
Senior Sergeant Small says Police are aware of reports from our Waitematā North community around groups of youth congregating in town centres and around public transport hubs.
“As part of this, Police have been patrolling in the area so that we can engage with the community, however this isn’t something we can solve on our own.
“Police rely on our communities to be our eyes and ears and we encourage anyone who is aware of potential issues or offending, to report it to Police so we can identify those involved and take the appropriate action.
“If an incident is happening now, please call Police on 111.”
