Mobile Recovery Hubs will bring bushfire recovery information, advice and support to impacted communities across Shoalhaven from early March, with the first to be held in Kangaroo Valley on Thursday, 5 March and Lake Conjola on Friday, 6 March.
The announcement of this outreach service coincides with a change in operating hours for the Ulladulla Recovery Centre. The Recovery Centre, which operates out of Ulladulla Civic Centre, will now open from 10am to 4pm on Thursdays and Fridays and 10am-2pm on Saturdays from week commencing 16 March.
“This means we are extending support for residents across the Local Government Area, six days a week,” Mayor Amanda Findley said.
“We know how vast the area is. We know it can be difficult to travel these distances. We also know how important it is that you have all the information you need to support your recovery journey. So we are planning on bringing these services to you.”
The first Mobile Recovery Hubs will be held at:
- Kangaroo Valley, 170 Moss Vale Road, Thursday 5 March, 2.30pm-6.30pm
- Lake Conjola Community Centre, Lake Conjola Entrance Road (cnr Aney Street), Friday 6 March, 2.30-6.30pm
- Manyana Public Hall, 195 Sunset Strip, Tuesday 10 March, 2.30-6.30pm
- Wandandian Progress Hall, D2683 Princes Highway, Monday 16 March, 2.30-6.30pm
- Lake Conjola Community Centre, Lake Conjola Entrance Road (cnr Aney Street), Tuesday 17 March, 2.30-6.30pm
- Kioloa/Bawley Point Community Centre, Murramarang Road, Kioloa, Monday 19 March, 2.30-6.30pm
Additional Hubs are being planned throughout March and April in other locations across the Shoalhaven.
“Mobile Recovery Hubs are like smaller versions of Community Recovery Centres; a place where people can access bushfire recovery information, advice and services,” Clr Findley said.
“They provide another avenue for people affected by fires to seek support; particularly those living in isolated areas or who are unable to travel to centralised assistance points.”
A full program of Mobile Recovery Hubs will be announced shortly. This is expected to evolve based on community needs and feedback. Residents are encouraged to check www.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au for updates as they become available.
“We also understand that some areas are having telecommunications issues and may have trouble accessing some of this information,” Cl Findley said.
“We will be using a variety of communications methods and distribution channels, including local media and hardcopy information, to let people know when we’re coming and where we’ll be. We also encourage members of the community to share this information with their neighbours and networks as well.”
The following static recovery centres remain available:
- Ulladulla Civic Centre, 81B Princes Highway, Ulladulla, Thursdays and Fridays 10-4pm, Saturdays 10-2pm
- Kangaroo Valley Drop-in Centre, 170 Moss Vale Road, Kangaroo Valley, Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm.
