Detectives have charged a 27-year-old Yeronga man following the death of a 66-year-old man at West End on 5 July.
It will be alleged around 12.23am, the two men, who were not known to each other, were at a park near the corner of Thomas Street and Vulture Street when an altercation occurred.
Police will allege the 27-year-old man struck the older man, causing him to fall and sustain a serious head injury.
The 66-year-old West End man was later transported to hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
Following investigations, detectives arrested the 27-year-old man at Fortitude Valley on the evening of 5 July.
He has been charged with one count of unlawful striking causing death and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.
He is due to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
