Police in a shadow fleet caught a recidivist unlicensed driver at Ardrossan this morning.
About 8.30am on Tuesday 29 September, a Yorke Mid North Highway patrol in a shadow fleet pulled over a driver on his way to work on Main Coast Road, Ardrossan.
Police checks revealed the man has not held a driver’s licence since 2013 and was currently disqualified from driving.
The 35-year-old man from Tiddy Widdy Beach produced a South Australian heavy vehicle licence. It will be alleged this identification contained multiple false details, and he has only ever held a provisional car licence, not a heavy vehicle licence.
He was arrested and charged with driving while disqualified and possess altered driver’s licence.
He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Kadina Magistrates Court later this afternoon.
SAPOL launched the new shadow fleet of low visibility, marked patrol vehicles on Friday 10 July to assist with detecting drivers committing offences including drink and drug driving, speeding, inattentive driving, and dangerous driving – behaviours that put road users at risk.
