As part of Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA)Council will carry out an extensive program of bridge maintenance and road and causeway repair works across the Gunnedah local government area in the coming months.
Works are scheduled to start at approximately 8am on Monday, 14 September 2026, and continue until Monday, 19 October, 2026*.
These essential works will be carried out at the following locations –
• Rushes Creek Bridge: 14-21 September
• Clifton Road – Causeway 1 ((between Oakey Creek Road and Leys Road): 21-28 September
• Clifton Road – Causeway 2 (between Leys Road and Denver Lane): 24 September – 1 October
• Clifton Road – Causeway 3 (between Denver Lane and Long Point Road): 29 September – 6 October
• Clifton Road – Causeways 4-7 (between Long Point Road and Round Hill Road): 2-19 October
During this period, pedestrian traffic conditions will be altered, and sections of the roads and bridges will be temporarily closed for the duration of the works.
Appropriate signage and traffic management measures will be in place to ensure public safety.
*Works will proceed only when weather conditions are suitable, and if conditions are unsuitable, interruptions may occur and the schedule may be extended.
