Update 1: Fatal hit and run traffic crash in Hervey Bay, QLD

Police have charged a 41-year-old Urangan man following a fatal hit and run traffic crash in Hervey Bay on May 26.

It will be alleged a Ford Falcon was travelling along Boundary Road around midnight when the vehicle struck a pedestrian walking along the road.

Police will further allege the man failed to remain at the scene of the crash.

Emergency services were called and located a 43-year-old Urangan woman deceased at the scene.

The man has been charged with on count each of manslaughter, dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving of a motor vehicle without a driver licence and driver fail to exhibit proper respect to deceased showing callous disregard for the needs of a person injured.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Hervey Bay Magistrates Court today.
