Update 1: Police involved shooting in Mount Sheridan, QLD

Police have charged a 28-year-old man following an incident in Mount Sheridan last night, 25 July.

It will be alleged around 5.10pm, officers were called following several reports of an armed robbery at a Pumila Close property and an attempted armed robbery on Benjamina Street.

Upon arrival, police located a 28-year-old man at the roundabout of Hardy Road, Foster Road and Lizard Street.

Officers attempted to engage with the man, before he was shot on Foster Road.

During the altercation, a civilian woman also sustained a gunshot wound.

Officers immediately provided first aid to both the man and woman, before both were transported to Cairns Base Hospital for treatment.

He was refused police bail and charged with two counts of wilful damage, and one count each of enter dwelling and commit, enter dwelling with intent, attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempted robbery, attempted enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, and going armed to cause fear.

He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court tomorrow, 27 July.

The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the Ethical Standards Command, with oversight from the Crime and Corruption Commission.
