Update – Death Investigation – Alice Springs

Detectives from the Major Crime Squad and Regional Investigations Division continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Alice Springs this week.

The man, who was located in storm drain on Larapinta Drive on Tuesday, has been identified as a 51 year-old from Haasts Bluff Community.

The crime scene has now been closed and investigations to date have ruled out any third party involvement in the death.

Police are seeking public assistance to identify the man’s movements during the period of 25 January and 4 February 2019.

The man is described as being of Aboriginal appearance with a medium build, short black, greying beard and hair.

He was last seen wearing a black long-sleeve button up shirt, black jeans and black hat and was sometimes known to carry a black backpack with white trimming.

The man was known to frequent the area near the intersection of Lovegrove Drive and Larapinta Drive as well as Araluen Park.

Anyone who may have seen a man fitting this description is urged to contact police on 131444.
