Update – Fatal Crash – Darwin

Major Crash Detectives are continuing their investigations into a fatal crash that occurred on the Stuart Highway, south of Cox Peninsula Road.

A 30-year-old female died at the scene and four other occupants were taken to Royal Darwin Hospital including one in a critical condition.

The exact circumstances of the crash are still under investigation by Major Crash Detectives.

It is believed the vehicle, a 1999 silver Subaru Forrester, may have been involved in other traffic incidents in the Palmerston and rural area prior to the crash. Police believe the vehicle collided with the back of a white utility towing a car trailer at the Howard Springs lights around 1:50pm and almost collided with a number of vehicles between Johnston and Livingstone.

Detectives are specifically interested in anyone who may have witnessed any erratic driving or crashes that the vehicle was involved in. Police are particularly interested in obtaining any CCTV or dash cam footage from vehicles travelling along the Stuart Highway between Johnston and Livingstone between 1:30pm and 2:00pm.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The Northern Territory road toll for 2019 now stands at four, two more than the same time last year.
