Update: Glen Innes homicide investigation

A man has been charged with murder following the death of man in Glen Innes yesterday afternoon.

Police were called to Sunnymead Road at 2.45pm to reports a person had been critically injured.

Acting Detective Inspector Craig Bolton, Auckland City CIB, says a male was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

“A 33-year-old male was taken into custody, and a murder charge was laid overnight.

“He will appear in Auckland District Court today.”

Police are not seeking anybody else in relation to this incident.

Area canvasses are ongoing, and residents can expect to see an increased Police presence as the investigation continues.

“As part of our enquiries, Police are asking for information from anyone who may have witnessed two vehicles travelling in tandem before the events on Sunnymead Road.

“We are seeking information and dashcam footage relating to a black Audi A3 and a silver Toyota Crown seen travelling through the Panmure and Glen Innes areas on Thursday afternoon,” Acting Detective Inspector Bolton says.
