Police investigating a death in Gisborne are asking for the public’s help to understand the circumstances, despite the death not being treated as suspicious.
Detective Senior Sergeant John Love says Police were called to the Crawford Road address about 1:50am on Tuesday 21 July.
A man, 57, was found deceased inside the property and an investigation got underway immediately.
“As part of our investigation we determined that a vehicle has arrived at the address and several people have caused damage to the house and to vehicles at the property.
“It also appears likely that a firearm was discharged at the address,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Love.
“Our enquiries have determined that the deceased, and other people at the address, were not injured by the intruders.”
The death has been referred to the Coroner.
