UPDATE – Severe Weather activity

Gold Coast beaches have started to reopen this morning as conditions ease.

They will be reopened on a case-by-case basis and conditions will be monitored closely.

At this stage most southern beaches remain closed. Please check with lifeguards before entering the water at any of our beaches and always swim between the flags.

Waste and Recycling Centres

All City of Gold Coast Waste and Recycling Centres have reopened this morning.

Clean Up Activities

City maintenance crews will be focusing on clean-up efforts this morning especially our beaches and roads.

Any roads affected by floodwater will be inspected before being reopened.

Debris continues to be removed from the beaches.

Residents are reminded to:

  • Stay out of swollen rivers and creeks. Not only are there hidden dangers below the surface but stormwater runoff can increase bacterial levels in the water making it unsafe for swimming.
  • Drive to conditions
  • Exercise caution at beaches and always swim between the flags.
