A leak in a main sewer has been detected in the rear laneway of the Barlyn Road Mount Waverley shopping strip.
There is no threat to adjacent properties, shops or the construction site at 170-174 Highbury Road.
The laneway is owned by Council and is used by businesses in the shopping strip to access parking behind their shops.
Yarra Valley Water is working on the issues. The laneway behind the shops has been closed while they seek to bypass the sewer and install temporary measures, including a pump.
There are no impacts to traffic on Highbury, Huntingdale or Barlyn roads due to this incident.
Council is working with the businesses to find alternative parking as the works are expected to take about three weeks and parking behind their businesses will not be available during this time.
