Update to Booster requirements, South Australia

Changes have been made to the following directions:

  • Healthcare Setting Workers Vaccination Direction;
  • In-home and Community Aged Care and Disability Workers Vaccination Direction;
  • Residential Aged Care Facilities Direction; and
  • Forensic Science SA Vaccination Direction.

From 29 January 2022, people who engage in work or perform duties in these settings need to (within the prescribed time), have a COVID-19 booster shot (third dose), or have evidence of a booking to receive a COVID-19 booster shot.

However, visitors to Forensic Science SA and residential aged care CANNOT enter these facilities with only evidence of a booking to receive a COVID-19 shot—visitors need to already have had their COVID-19 booster shot or be within the prescribed time prior to receiving their booster shot to be permitted to enter.

Prescribed time means:

  • for a person who has been infected with COVID-19, within 4 months of their first positive COVID-19 test, or within 4 months of their second dose of a TGA approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine, whichever is later; and
  • for any other person, within 4 months of their second dose of a TGA approved or recognised COVID-19.

People who engage in work or perform duties in these settings must provide the operator of that setting with proof of their vaccination status and evidence of the applicable prescribed time for receiving a booster dose upon request.

Other existing requirements remain.
