Updated Cross Border Travel Associated Direction 17 November, South Australia

The Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel Associated No 64) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel Associated No 63) (COVID-19) Direction 2021. This Direction came into effect at 5.25pm on 17 November 2021.

Key changes include:

People who are not South Australian residents and have been in the Northern Territory since 10 November 2021 (vaccinated or not) are not permitted to enter South Australia without an exemption from SA Health. People escaping Domestic Violence are able to enter under Level 5 restrictions.

Fully vaccinated South Australians who have been in the Katherine LGA since 10 November 2021 can enter under Level 4 requirements:

  • COVID-19 test on day 1, 5, & 13.
  • Self-quarantine for 7 days.
  • Must wear a face mask (covering mouth and nose) at any time that they come into contact with the public for a period of 14 days after their arrival in SA.

However, if you have travelled through Katherine via the most direct and practicable route, have only stopped for respite or other essential purposes (such as obtaining fuel), and have worn a face mask for the entirety of the time they come into contact with the public and can maintain physical distance they may enter South Australia under Level 3 requirements.

There are no changes to other categories of traveller.

Unvaccinated South Australian residents can enter under Level 4 requirements:

  • COVID-19 test on day 1, 5, & 13.
  • Self-quarantine for 14 days.
  • Must wear a face mask (covering mouth and nose) at any time that they come into contact with the public for a period of 14 days after their arrival in SA.

If fully vaccinated South Australians have not been in the Katherine LGA, they can enter under Level 3 requirements:

  • COVID-19 test on day 1, 5, & 13.
  • Self-quarantine until negative test.
  • No entry into high risk setting for 14 days after arrival, unless clause 9 applies.
  • No entry to COVID Management Plan events >1000.

Commercial Transport and Freight Services can enter as Essential Travellers.

Other existing requirements remain.
