Updated Exposure Sites, Contacts and Diagnosis Direction, South Australia

The Emergency Management (Exposure Sites, Contacts and Diagnosis Requirements No 6) (COVID-19) Direction 2022 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Exposure Sites, Contacts and Diagnosis Requirements No 7) (COVID-19) Direction 2022. This Direction comes into effect at 12.01am on 26 March 2022.

Key changes include:

Close Contacts

The definition of a close contact is changed to mean a person who spends 4 or more hours of cumulative contact with a COVID-19 case during their infectious period.

People with COVID-19 are considered infectious two days before their symptoms started or, if they didn’t have any noticeable symptoms, they are considered infectious two days before they had taken their positive COVID-19 test.

People who have had COVID-19 are not considered to be a close contact for 12 weeks after their isolation ended. This period was previously 8 weeks.

Household Close Contacts

The quarantine period for household close contacts is reduced from 14 days to 7 days. This is effective immediately and applies to household contacts currently in quarantine on days 8 to 14 on the condition that they produce a negative RAT or PCR test.

If you have symptoms, get a PCR test. If you have no symptoms, you can use a Rapid Antigen Test.
