Upgrade announced for Seymour Manners Street boat ramp

Mitchell Shire Council has welcomed an announcement that the Victorian Government will invest in boating infrastructure projects across the Goulburn region through the Better Boating Fund.

Minister for Outdoor Recreation Sonya Kilkenny visited Seymour on Friday 31 March to announce that plans are underway to upgrade the Manners Street boat ramp at Lions Park in Seymour, allowing for easier access to the Goulburn River, which was impacted by the October 2022 flood.

The Seymour Manners Street boat ramp is among several inland ramps prioritised for enhancements, funded through the Better Boating Fund via boaters’ registration and license fees.

The ramp currently features a single-lane concrete ramp, an adjacent fixed jetty, and parking facilities. The Victorian Recreational Boating Strategy (2021-2030) has identified this ramp as a top priority for upgrades.

Better Boating Victoria (BBV) has recently enlisted engineering firm Confluence to carry out concept design work for the project. In the near future, BBV will engage with stakeholders and boating facility users to pinpoint areas for improvement.

Following the functional review, stakeholder workshops, and feedback survey results, concept designs will be developed and presented for consultation in the coming months. The project will then move forward through the BBV pipeline for eventual upgrades.
